Responsibilities

The function of the Public Works Department is to provide overall coordination and direction to five separate but cooperating divisions (Engineering, Roads & Bridges, Sanitation, Storm Water, and Clean & Beautiful), and to interact appropriately with various other state, federal, and local agencies.

This Department is responsible for all facets of Road Maintenance and Construction, Engineering and Design, Plan Review and Project Inspection, Solid Waste Collection, and Recycling.

TRAFFIC MOVEMENT CHANGE:

AMMONS BRIDGE ROAD DEEP PATCHING: 

Deep Patching on Ammons Bridge Road has begun today, Tuesday, May 3, 2022, between the City of Monroe City Limits and H D Atha Road. One lane will be closed, please use caution when driving in this area. Ammons Bridge Road is on the 2022 Paving List to be resurfaced this year. 
Please drive carefully in this area for your safety and the safety of our crews. Keep in mind that there will be traffic delays in this area. Please watch for pilot cars and flaggers.
